Rave: Dermasil lotion

I have an interesting story to go with this blog.

I've had ezcema since I was an infant. (Associated with my asthma unfortunately.) Well, my daughter has a mild case of ezcema, and of course as a parent I've researched, purchased and tried many things to control it. Hers is a very mild case, and for a time Extra virgin coconut oil did the job really well, but I have no idea what's happening this winter because it broke both of us out. (insert sad face here)

Well, I came across Dermasil lotion at my local Dollar Tree store and decided to test it out on my skin first. After a few days I gave it the ok and tried it on my two year old. I've been filling and refilling her hydro-cortisone cream for months now, and fortunately and surprisingly for once I haven't had too since I started using this lotion on her. :-) Her skin is super moisturized and soft with it. She isn't itching, and I haven't seen her scratching or any dry patches, or visible signs of rashes on her skin. Most of all she is not complaining. It was to the point where I was applying her prescribed cream every night and after every bath. :-/

Well, I told my mother one day in excitement about what I discovered and how it was working so well, and she swears that she told me about the lotion when my daughter was a few months old. She said that when I was a baby my doctor precribed Dermasil or Aveeno, and apparently at the time Dermasil was about $20 a bottle. :-O I did a little surfing and noticed that it's being sold online for quite the price. :-/ I'm very fortunate that the dollar store carries this brand. It's apparently made by doctors in a pharmeacutical lab, so I'm sure they had dry skin and other skin issues in mind when they created it.  :-)

If you have sensitive skin, ezcema, or any other skin issues that other drugstore brands, or prescribed lotions werent solving, I urge you to give this lotion a chance. It's probably older than I am ( I didn't check) and I am 28, and it was being used on my skin about 26 yrs ago. LOL!

After reading your post, I just had to comment. I too, picked up a bottle of Dermasil up at my local Dollar Tree just last week. This lotion is amazing! All my life (I'm 49), I have always suffered with the worst kind of dry skin. I started using Cetaphil about 15 years ago, and thought I could never find anything that (is Hypo-Allergenic), that could work so well. But then I tried Dermasil. At a $1.00 a bottle, Dermasil has been the best relief for the small eczema rash that I always get on my face, just below my nose. No more slothing my body in expensive Cetaphil after every shower. I will be using Dermasil!

I recently dicovered this lotion in my local dollar tree as well and I am just in the first couple of days in using it. I also have very sensitive skin that gets irritated easily, this seems to be working to combat my dry skin and itchiness. Thought I'd look on the internet to see what reviews I could find and ran across your blog. I can feel a little more at ease about applying it to my skin ater finding such a steal at the dollar store! ;)

I bought As Seen on TV Heel Tastic. I inherited my mom's dry cracked heels. I researched the ingredient Dinethicore (I am losing my sight, but think the spelling is correct)
Anyway, Dermasil's active ingrefient like the heels product is a I above mentioned.
With other moisturizers, what the ingredient does is its molecules are too large to enter the skin cells, so it provides a protective shield over the moisturiizers that are absorbed. Several websites explained it pretty much the same.
I love it...stocking up on payday. I'm thrilled to hear Dollar Tree carries it as a regular item, as I was worried it would be gone from the .99 store, and have to pay a high price to get it.
My skin is usually dry.and sensitive...it is working great!

I was at the Dollar Tree when I ran into Dermasil, and I have to say that I initially picked it because of the fact that it was cruelty-free and did not participate in animal testing. I started with the soap and was pleasantly surprised at how long it lasted and how soft it made my skin. Then on a return trip to pick up some more soap, I grabbed the lotion...and WOW! This lotion is probably the best I've ever tried and it lasts forever. Even after washing my hands at work, I can still feel it on my hands, but not in a greasy manner. It works amazing and I am officially addicted...and $1! Doesn't get better than that.

I have keratosis pillaris and this winter it's been flaring up like crazy, leaving me with the worst dry patches and broken skin (from scratching). I just bought this lotion the other day from the Dollar Tree, and it. is. AMAZING! I was so happy to see your post and that it worked for you and your daughter. My son (2.5 years) has my same skin condition and I've been using Aveeno Baby Lotion (per his dr), but just may switch to using Dermasil on him too. I couldn't recommend this product enough!!!

I to have had chronic dry skin...I am in love with this product! Makes my skin so soft and has healed my chapped, cracked skin. I also buy it at Dollar tree. : )

I just bought some from the 99 cent store. I Googled because I was sure I'd heard of this brand and wanted to see if it was a knock off. My daughters skin is horribly dry even, right after a bath.

Love Dermasil, BUT...has anyone noticed a recent change in their inactive ingredients??? I noticed a different consistency of my new Dermasil purchase...water, then glycerine. The old container was water, and then pertrolatum. Different feel to the skin. Test the two!

I noticed this product at my local dollar store And thought I'd give it a try because I've heard of it before and its only a DOLLAR. Then I read the label noticed it was made in China!!! There's no telling what to be in this product, No wonder it's only a dollar. Made in China!!

Wow I have always used Dermasil on my body, but never on my face and lately my face has been drying up really bad. I went to Walgreens and some one there told me that if I was using Dermasil that I could use it on my face. I can say this it is working my face does not burn or feels dry anymore and I am using it forever.

just purchased a bottle of dermasil from my local $ store. and after reading these posts, i can't wait to start using for my daughter whose had severely dry skin lately. I thought it would be some crappy lotion especially after the clerk offered it to me and stated alot people have been buying it. these post make you want to sleeping on $ store items, because they work just as good if not even better. so we'll see:)

I am visiting family in south carolina and I live in new york. The water consistency in sc is so hard and leaves my skin extremely dry! I discovered dermasil in my mother's bathroom and decided to use it. It is fabulous for my dry skin! I have to stock up before I leave!

I used to invest in cetaphil lotion for my dry skin. I noticed dermasil has similar ingrediants as cetaphil. I gave it a try it works well. I wasn't itchy or dry while using dermasil during winter months. it even smoothed out the dry rough bumps I get on the back of my arms. I no longer purchase cetaphil and I look forward to my dermasil goody bag my friend creates for me every Christmas.

Dermasil is SUCH a good lotion. I think it works as well as Bath and Body works lotions, but without the sometimes annoying strong perfume smell. At the most, I only have to apply it 2 times after a shower. With other lotions I have to do it like 3-4 times. And it's a DOLLAR!
And I'm not sure if the company is lying or not (some do), but it says "cruelty free" on the back.
It is my miracle lotion.

I like many of you posting have severely dry skin and have tried the gamut of face creams, moisturizers and body lotions some coming with a very hefty price tag. I saw Dermasil body lotion and day/night face cream at Dollar Tree and gave it a try for $3. Bar none, best stuff on the market. I had been using products from a local drug store that were very effective, but for so much less, I got the same results with Dermasil. I'm sold and hooked on it! If you don't have a Dollar Tree near you, don't buy this online.......it's way overpriced, and if you can find someone who can purchase it at their Dollar Tree and ship it to you, it would still be cheaper than buying it online.

I do not trust products made in China but do not have the resourses to have it tested. These reviews sound too bias to be real.

After months of therapy to my arm and hand after falling on glass, I was spoiled by paraffin waxes, cetaphil, and dermacil treatments! When I walked into dollar tree, I knew full well what this product was and quickly grabbed four of them! Long story short, this stuff is used in hospitals to treat severe wounds and provide relief to damaged itchy skin! Going to buy more tomorrow for the whole family!

When I was checking out today at my local Dollar Tree, the clerk asked if I'd be interested in purchasing some Dermasil Lotion. At first I declined, but then decided that it was only a dollar, and my hands are pretty parched (especially with this frigid weather we're having, and because I handle lots of paper on a daily basis at work!). So.... I came back to the office & put some on & I LOVE it!! It absorbs quickly and leaves a soft velvety feel. I agree about being leary of being made in China; however, it says "at a USA FDA Approved Facility" after the "Made in China", so hopefully that means it's ok!! :)

My 14 year old son has suffered his entire life from extremely dry skin...he's just starting to care about his appearances thus being ashy is a MAJOR problem and so "not cool". This Christmas at the top of his list was Good-expensive lotion. On a quick trip for some last minute Xmas gift bags I spotted dermasil lotion at the checkout counter and decided to buy 2- after giving it a prelim test to ensure is wasnt watery😉
I gave it to my son who has been ranting and raving ever since about how AWESOME is lotion is. This is an amazing find. Although is appears to be a great regular item, I'm afraid someone somewhere is going to wake up and sell it for what it's worth.... IM STOCKING UP😉

I just tried thIs lotion on my 4month old and Ican already see the difference. I have a very mild case of eczema but my babIes is hhorrible due to allergic reaction. Ive tried cetaphil and aveeno and NOTHING works like ddermasil. This is the lotion I used growing up but completely forgot about since I only have dry skin on my leg and the ezcema patch is very small. I wanted to read a few reviews before continued use but seeing its 1 $ I will be buying plenty! Thanks so much for this post.

Everything breaks my face out except for Dermasil. I've tried it all- even Cetaphil breaks it out. My pores clog easily and my face is very acne and blackhead prone. I'm in my fifties, and want to be able to apply a moisturizer to soften my skin and prevent wrinkles. Dermasil is the only lotion I've ever found that I can use on my face.

Can I use dermasil for my four months old?
